The Brief

The Royal Parks engaged Limelight Sports to create and deliver an active experience which would enable them to interact with a wider audience, and raise funds to support keeping the parks safe, clean, bursting with life and blooming with beauty.

The Solution

Having designed and delivered the inaugural Royal Parks Half Marathon in 2008, we continue to evolve this iconic running experience, which in 2017 will celebrate #10yearsrunning. With a route passing through four of the Royal Parks and encompassing iconic London sites, the experience has become one of the UK’s most popular half marathons and continues to see a fully subscribed ballot each year.
 
Our team bring the campaign to life by combining elements of project management, marketing, technology & event experience delivery. The dynamic Food & Fitness Festival at Hyde Park continues to flourish, as does the comprehensive participant tracking app, which was designed and built by Limelight Sports to enhance the spectator experience.

The Results

  • Fully subscribed registration ballot.
  • Over £5million raised for the Royal Parks and over £30million for 550 other charities since inception.
  • #1 UK Twitter trend on event day in 2016.
  • 72% of runners tracked on the app, with 18,333 app downloads in total.
  • 110,000 bottles recycled and 891kg of clothing saved from landfill.
  • 112,000 finishers since inception in 2008.
