The FA People's Cup - Adding Value

We're pleased to annouce we will be working with The FA to support the future growth and development of The FA People’s Cup, the nation’s largest and most inclusive small sided competition. The FA People’s Cup first round kicks off nationwide in late February and continues through to the finals in April, hosted for the first time at St. George’s Park, the home of England’s 28 national teams. First round entries are filling fast and teams can register for their local tournament via www.TheFa.com/FAPeoplesCup.

The FA People’s Cup is a 5-a-side competition run in partnership with BBC Get Inspired. It was formed in 2015 and it is designed for everyone. In its first year over 30,000 people took part in the competition which resulted in over 1,000 new teams being created. Last year another 35,000 players took part in what has become the largest and most inclusive 5-a-side tournament in the country. It is completely free to enter and there are 18 different categories from U14 girls and boys to over 50s walking football and everything in between.

We have extensive experience in running high quality events designed to give the best possible experience to the participants.  The FA has asked us to take the event to the next level, to drive the competition’s development and enhance the already high standards of execution and participant experience. We will also be developing the strategic plan to help the continued growth and long term impact of the event.

Georgina Lewis, Head of Marketing at The FA, commented:

“The FA People’s Cup is extremely important to grassroots football in this country and as the nation’s largest and most inclusive 5-a-side competition it provides a fantastic opportunity for people to play the game. With 18 categories welcoming a truly diverse set of entrants, this competition really is for all.  The FA People’s Cup has enjoyed great success in its first two years and we want to continue to develop the competition to enable more players to play football across the country.  Limelight Sports has an outstanding record over many years of delivering top quality events and we are very pleased to have them working with us”.

Craig Dews, Limelight Sports CEO, commented:

“We are delighted that we have been appointed to work with The FA on this extremely exciting and important programme. This is another very significant development for the agency as we continue to see an increasing number of sports governing bodies expand their offerings in order to attract a larger and wider audience to their sport.  The FA People’s Cup has been hugely successful and as the agency of the Active World, we look forward to helping The FA with its further development”
