Over £9m raised for charity clients in 2017As we take the time to reflect on another fantastic year of Active World experiences, it seems fitting that one of the final events of the year on the Limelight Sports calendar is Great Ormond Street’s Santa Dash.
On the first Sunday of December, hordes of red suited and beard clad runners descended on Clapham Common, once again demonstrating the incredible platform that the Active World provides to charities to achieve their fundraising goals.
In 2017 alone, campaigns delivered by Limelight Sports have helped to raise more than £9million for charitable causes. Incredible experiences such as the iconic Prince’s Trust Palace to Palace cycle ride and the stunning Royal Parks Half Marathon have brought together thousands of participants who wish to challenge themselves whilst doing tremendous good at the same time.
There is, quite rightly, a huge amount of discussion right now about the value of the Active World on personal well-being. We hear incredible stats around the effect of exercise on mental as well as physical health. We read daily about the feel-good factor of regular exercise and the enhancement this brings to our day-to-day lives. But add the additional layer of charitable fundraising to these benefits and the value of the Active World increases yet further.
Swimathon, a pioneering charitable fundraising event, spotted the opportunity that the Active World provided back in 1988 and so many other charities have since entered the Active World to provide another reason to get active, take part in events and help make a difference to other people’s lives in the process.
From the swimmers smashing out a super quick 5k Swimathon back in April to the Santa suit Clad families running/walking/scooting their way around Clapham Common this month, it’s been another incredible year for Limelight’s charity clients. Here’s to 2018 and these life changing charities continuing to do what they do best, championing the Active World whilst giving everyone some added motivation on the side!
