ESPN Digital Hit the Streets of Melbourne

November 2016 saw the launch of the first ESPN Digital 3:3 Challenge at Docklands Sports Courts in Melbourne. The purpose, to create a memorable brand experience for the ESPN sales team to share with their contacts in media buying agencies.

Limelight Sports was engaged to:

  • design a basketball brand experience
  • develop a competition schedule for at minimum 16 teams
  • manage all elements of planning and execution for the event

The result: an authentic street basketball experience for 20 teams and entertained 70+ guests, including managing directors, digital media buyers and account managers. The experience was themed 'America tailgating' which included all American snacks, corn hole and the best in hop hop tunes in town.

OMD won the inaugural title, taking home an all-inclusive trip to Los Angeles, USA including a trip to Disneyland and attendance at two NBA games. "ESPN truly understand the value of active world experiences in connecting them with their networks. They know there's far more to be gained by getting out and spending a few hours on a basketball court, rather than by sitting in a meeting room. Their authentic, innovative, and we love working with them," Karla Bunney, Account Director, said.
