Production and Logistics Manager Steve Myland shares his passion for cycling...
Marketing Potential of
Mass Participation Sport
We passionately believe in their power. They are designed for all: to discover, experience and share...
We do this with, and for, brands. Tailoring to their audiences, needs, plans, targets and ambitions. Small to huge, local to global, strategy to delivery.
Marketing Manager (Australia)
I came to Limelight Sports in 2011 from a Melbourne-based sports media company. With a love for all things sport and events, and a background in sports marketing, I am responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing and publicity strategy for clients and Limelight owned properties.
Basketball! I have played since I was young, and still play weekly in a domestic competition. I can’t get past the fact that you can exercise while playing a game that you love. I’d much rather be on the basketball court than in the gym.
Marketing Director (UK)
Using mass participation to get brands and communities to meet around sport was a fascinating proposition when I joined in August 2013. Since then I have learned to understand the incredible power of mass participation and fallen for the passion and creativity of the Limelight Sports team
Pinning down to one sport or one sport event is impossible! Sport has always been at the heart of my life – Noah, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Clyde Drexler, Federer, Zidane… The sports I practice the most regularly are tennis, skiing, cycling and hiking.
Financial Controller (UK)
I am the head of finance at Limelight Sports. I most enjoy the interaction with my colleagues. I like the variety that each project brings. Occasionally the Experience department will let me out of the office to help out on one of their events. Fun, fun, fun!!!
I like running for fun and in the spring to summer months I run home at least once a week – covering 13+ miles. I love the gym and you can find me in my local gym at least five days a week, working on strength training or maintaining my cardio levels.
Managing Director (Australia)
I was lucky to be part of the UK company team for 5 years during a massive growth phase, and then set up the Australia/NZ company in 2009. Have been the MD since then!
Run, bike (road/MTB/fixie), swim (badly). Golf (even worse…), and anything else where you can hit/pass/shoot!!
Account Director (UK)
I’ve been with Limelight since 2007 and have worked across a range of departments and been involved with some of our highest profile events. Highlights for me include Nike Show Your 5, Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and Nike Chance… Did I mention the Nike Chance World Tour?
If you can win or lose I’m interested. I love to go further and push harder. Out of the office you’ll find me on my bike, smashing a squash ball about or with a board strapped to my feet falling down a mountain.
Events Director (UK)
I joined Limelight in 1999, initially working on mass participation multisport events for young people; I’m now the Events Director with responsibility for a team of 20+ people creating and delivering premium participation sporting experiences
I’m a keen runner and cyclist who loves parkrun and who regularly enters into participation events. I volunteer with Ealing, Southall and Middlesex AC young athletes and passionately believe in the benefits of an active world
Commercial Director (UK properties)
My Limelight Sports career kicked off with Nike's PannaKO '04 & now involves the growth, development & direction of Limelight's own properties.
Football now replaced by multi-sport (London Duathlon 2005 was my first) & iron-distance soon? Marathon highlight was NYC '08 & now just 90 secs off Good for Age
Account Coordinator (Australia)
Worked a few events whilst at uni studying engineering. After graduating saw it as a great opportunity to be a part of a relatively small team compared to most engineering firms, allowing me to really have an impact on my workplace rather than just be a number in an office.
Loves gridiron, playing, coaching and watching. Played for about 5 years, playing in 3 Vicbowl/championship games, and winning two. Enjoys getting on the bike and most outdoor activities.
Account Director (UK)
Since joining in 2006, I continue to be inspired by the passion and dedication of our participants as well as my colleagues. My role now focusses on the long term growth and development of the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon and London Duathlon.
In search of some ‘me time’ away from my children, I took up running and completed my first half marathon in September. The recent tube strike was a real reminder of why cycling is so great, now I just need to upgrade the Apollo...
Head of Technology
I have been with Limelight Sports for over 10 years and experienced first hand countless campaigns in this time. This experience of the live event and event campaigns coupled with my technical knowledge allows me and my team to specialise in “applied technology”; technology that is designed for participation sport enhancing the experience of the participant and their spectators.
Keen cyclist and triathlete. Soft spot for Birmingham city.
Marketing and Communications Executive
Since joining in July 2013 as Graduate Intern, I soon found my niche in the Marketing department. It has been a whirlwind of great experiences and learnings since I started involving strategy planning to social media to on site event day activities.
Self-confessed adrenaline junkie when it comes to skiing and wakeboarding. However in a more day to day environment I always love to run and cannot deny my love for tennis with it being my number one sport since the age of 5.
Marketing & Communications Manager (UK)
I joined Limelight Sports in 2013, and it’s been an amazing experience since. Great moments, learnings and above all great people. So far I have seen the first SwimBritain series come to life and been part of the incredible Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon.
Nothing better than a good gym session to finish the day. And nothing better than some fresh powder snow to shake off that winter rain! Other than that, I’ll take on any good excuse to spend the day outdoors when the weather allows it.
Head of Business Development
New to the company in March 2014 following 16 years within Formula 1 and top level motorsport. Focused on commercialising our international properties and top domestic experiences.
I like a whole bunch of sports, but particularly enjoy motorsport, cycling, rugby and golf. I ran the 2009 London Marathon and raced several sportives including London-Paris, although I do less sport than I used to which is now limited to the occasional run or bike ride.
I started at Limelight Sports in August 2011, when I started we had a small team of 3 in the Melbourne office and 1 in our Sydney office. From there we have grown, and moved to a larger office in the process. I have been lucky enough to have worked across a large number of projects, from small scale one day events to large scale major campaigns. I manage the Nike running account at present which means I am immersed in the Nike world and all the excitement and challenges it poses. Currently I am leading on the Nike She Runs event and Limelight’s internal IT requirements and digital team. Throughout my time at Limelight I have been involved in charity events, running events, and community events, digital campaign’s and have a lot of diversity in my roles.
My favorite activity when I have free is a mix of adventure sports like mountain biking, stand up paddle boarding on the bay in St Kilda or down in the coast on the Great Ocean Road. Skateboarding, especially downhill has always been a passion of mine especially down the coast with big sweeping hills with friends
Joined Limelight in 1998 as Project Manager for Swimathon. Appointed CEO in November 2001 and have looked to develop the team, our client relationships and our company credentials since then. Very privileged to lead such a talented and enthusiastic team of people.
Football and Rugby League. Now running and cycling. Duathlon debut September 2014!
Commercial Partnerships Manager
I joined Limelight in April 2013, previously working in partnerships at the City of London Corporation. Growing up Michael Jordan stood out for me as a true sports icon and even from a young age I was fascinated by the relationships between brands and athletes. Working as part of the commercial team has given me the opportunity to work on some incredible projects with amazing brands as well as fulfil a dream of working with Nike.
Coming from Durham in the North East of England naturally you either become a Newcastle or Sunderland fan, but my first love was the Chicago Bulls. I enjoyed playing Basketball from a young age and it was only later in life my love blossomed for football. I have completed the Great North Run on two occasions and enjoy running regularly.
