Steve Way hit the headlines after finishing 10th in the Commonwealth Games marathon.
Marketing Potential of
Mass Participation Sport
We passionately believe in their power. They are designed for all: to discover, experience and share...
We do this with, and for, brands. Tailoring to their audiences, needs, plans, targets and ambitions. Small to huge, local to global, strategy to delivery.
Events Director (UK)
I joined Limelight in 1999, initially working on mass participation multisport events for young people; I’m now the Events Director with responsibility for a team of 20+ people creating and delivering premium participation sporting experiences
I’m a keen runner and cyclist who loves parkrun and who regularly enters into participation events. I volunteer with Ealing, Southall and Middlesex AC young athletes and passionately believe in the benefits of an active world
Managing Director (Australia)
I was lucky to be part of the UK company team for 5 years during a massive growth phase, and then set up the Australia/NZ company in 2009. Have been the MD since then!
Run, bike (road/MTB/fixie), swim (badly). Golf (even worse…), and anything else where you can hit/pass/shoot!!
Marketing Director (UK)
Using mass participation to get brands and communities to meet around sport was a fascinating proposition when I joined in August 2013. Since then I have learned to understand the incredible power of mass participation and fallen for the passion and creativity of the Limelight Sports team
Pinning down to one sport or one sport event is impossible! Sport has always been at the heart of my life – Noah, Pirmin Zurbriggen, Clyde Drexler, Federer, Zidane… The sports I practice the most regularly are tennis, skiing, cycling and hiking.
Marketing Manager (Australia)
I came to Limelight Sports in 2011 from a Melbourne-based sports media company. With a love for all things sport and events, and a background in sports marketing, I am responsible for the creation and implementation of marketing and publicity strategy for clients and Limelight owned properties.
Basketball! I have played since I was young, and still play weekly in a domestic competition. I can’t get past the fact that you can exercise while playing a game that you love. I’d much rather be on the basketball court than in the gym.
Senior Project Manager (UK)
I joined in 2011 to take over project management of the Swimathon. Since then I have been heavily involved in some of our newest properties including Night Run, London Duathlon and School Swimathon. Within the Invested Properties department, I now specialize in creating and developing our owned events.
I am a pure, unashamed sports geek. If ever I’m not watching sport on TV then I’m attempting (and generally failing) to emulate the pros in real life. In recent times this has turned into a passion for cycling and running, and an attempt to get back into the pool mean that a triathlon is next on my list
Head of Technology
I have been with Limelight Sports for over 10 years and experienced first hand countless campaigns in this time. This experience of the live event and event campaigns coupled with my technical knowledge allows me and my team to specialise in “applied technology”; technology that is designed for participation sport enhancing the experience of the participant and their spectators.
Keen cyclist and triathlete. Soft spot for Birmingham city.
Business Development Executive (UK)
Became a ‘Limelighter’ in January 2014 after 2 years in the commercial office at Manchester United and have enjoyed my time here so far immensely. My role is to help attract commercial partners for our portfolio of events and with the plans ahead, it couldn’t be more exciting!
Keen golfer and cricketer. On Saturdays, can be found on the terraces of Selhurst Park, home of the mighty Crystal Palace!
Commercial Director (UK properties)
My Limelight Sports career kicked off with Nike's PannaKO '04 & now involves the growth, development & direction of Limelight's own properties.
Football now replaced by multi-sport (London Duathlon 2005 was my first) & iron-distance soon? Marathon highlight was NYC '08 & now just 90 secs off Good for Age
Head of Business Development
New to the company in March 2014 following 16 years within Formula 1 and top level motorsport. Focused on commercialising our international properties and top domestic experiences.
I like a whole bunch of sports, but particularly enjoy motorsport, cycling, rugby and golf. I ran the 2009 London Marathon and raced several sportives including London-Paris, although I do less sport than I used to which is now limited to the occasional run or bike ride.
Production Manager (Australia)
Martin started with Limelight when the Australian offices opened in 2009 after working for another sport events agency. Since then he has looked after the Production and Logistics side of all mayor events including the J.P.Morgan Corporate Challenge and Nike She Runs.
Surfing, beach volleyball, swimming and cycling
Head of Corporate Services (UK)
I first started working for Limelight in 1998 as PR Manager, progressing into Account Management. Having briefly left in both 2001 and 2005 I realised the grass is actually not greener (!) and returned in 2007 to take on the role of Head of Project Management. In 2011 I became Head of Corporate Services.
If I have the time between studying (for a Post Graduate Diploma in HR) and looking after my child my preferences are for running and am also looking forward to trying skiing again next winter, after a second operation to mend my ruptured ACLs!
Assistant Staffing and Logistics Manager (UK)
After leaving the world of event crewing I joined Limelight Sports in June 2013 to work in the Experience team – I love the buzz and the challenges that come with the role….you can’t beat working on event day and seeing all your hard work pay off!
You’ll usually find me jumping around my living room to my latest fitness DVD or cycling to and from work.
Digital Marketing Executive (UK)
Having graduated in 2012 with a largely political background, I decided to put my number one obsession* to good use and work in sport. I’ve been at Limelight Sports now for two months and couldn’t have asked for a better environment in which to flex my digitally marketed muscles. (*cake a close second)
One afternoon, sort-of-long ago, I found myself bored senseless with GCSE revision. Desperate to find a means of escape my mother couldn’t object to, I went for a run. Since then I’ve run in many a country, covered many a mile and secured GFA times running the London and NYC Marathons.
Joined Limelight in 1998 as Project Manager for Swimathon. Appointed CEO in November 2001 and have looked to develop the team, our client relationships and our company credentials since then. Very privileged to lead such a talented and enthusiastic team of people.
Football and Rugby League. Now running and cycling. Duathlon debut September 2014!
Project Coordinator (UK)
I joined Limelight Sports fairly recently in December 2013 having worked initially as day staff on the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon. My time here so far has been a very busy but incredibly rewarding experience – now I can’t wait to get stuck in and actually work on our events this summer!
I enjoy swimming and am a keen runner – I have done a half marathon but am determined to one day run the whole hog. I also enjoy group activity and attend regular Body Attack classes and Boot Camp (though my attendance in the latter seems to trail off over winter)!
Account Manager (Australia)
I begun working with Limelight Sports in November, 2012 and have since worked on projects such as the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge, XTERRA events, Wiggle Cycle Series and various Nike campaigns. Upcoming projects include the XTERRA Asia Pacific Championships in Jervis Bay, NSW and XTERRA Great Ocean Rd.
Swimming, Biking and Running are my favorite ways to get outdoors and keep active.
